The Price of Cultured or Synthetic Diamonds

Synthetic diamonds, also referred to as cultured diamonds, are very real. In creating synthetic diamonds, we use a process called CVD to replicate the exact conditions needed to form a diamond. They are formed just as mother nature would make them, except in a much more controlled environment, allowing for a consistently higher quality diamond.

Because nature can never produce a truly flawless diamond, cultured or synthetic diamonds will be consistently higher quality. The typical price of cultured or synthetic diamonds is one tenth the price of a natural diamond, making them an affordable alternative, while sacrificing none of the benefits of a natural diamond. It's much like the difference between using recycled paper and not. Both are paper, but one is beneficial to the environment. You aren't sacrificing quality by using recycled paper, but you are most assuredly offending a purist somewhere.

Such is the case with the battle between the natural diamond producers, such as De Beers, and the companies such as ours who produce cultured or synthetic diamonds.

De Beers has even launched a massive campaign to "educate" people about "fake diamonds." Such is simply not the case, as cultured diamonds are not fake. They are chemically and structurally identical to natural diamonds in every way. They simply weren't mined from the earth. A perfect comparison would be oil. Oil is a limited natural resource, just like diamonds. Synthetic oil exists, and commands a higher price than natural oil does due to it's higher quality. You don't see the oil companies bashing synthetic oil. Then again, they own the rights to it, and produce it themselves. De Beers only has issues with cultured or synthetic diamonds because they don't own exclusive rights to the technology, and aren't reaping the profits.

Another benefit to purchasing synthetic diamonds is color. Fancy colored diamonds are rare in nature, making them prohibitively expensive. With our synthetic diamonds, there is no such rarity. We can make diamonds of varying colors and sizes as we see fit. Colored synthetic diamonds are incredibly beautiful, and affordably priced.

Considering the price of synthetic diamonds is so much lower than natural, and the only real difference is where they are "mined", so to speak, is there any question as to which diamond is the best choice?
